Without speaking on the phone, there is no perfect way to tell you which mattress will serve your needs best, but we can give you a general guide. Choosing the right mattress starts with knowing how you sleep, and what you generally like. The first question any of our sales people will ask you when you call is what position you sleep in. Are you on your side, back or stomach? We follow that with “what type of mattress you are currently on and how you like it?”, then finally, “do you usually prefer a firmer or softer sleeping surface?”
The first question “what position do you sleep in” let’s us know what type of support you most likely need. While a person who sleeps on their back can sleep on most of the mattresses we sell without any problem, people who sleep on their stomachs generally need more support, and those who sleep on their side need a mattress with a more gentle support. To be clear, we ALL need a mattress that offers support but think of it like this. When you are sleeping on your side, the two widest parts of you, your hips and shoulders have the greatest amount of contact and pressure with your mattress. A more gentle support will allow your hips and shoulders to “sink” in, spreading your weight more evenly across the rest of your body. On the flip side, if you sleep on your stomach, a gentle support will be bad for your back. Imagine sleeping face down in a hammock all night – You would wake in pain…right? So most stomach sleepers need a bit more support.
We do not want you to be misled, however, into thinking “support” and “feel” are the same thing. We can offer you a more supportive bed with a soft feel, and vice versa. Our memory foam mattresses, and latex mattresses are ideal examples of this. Both of these mattress types have different combinations of support layers and “comfort” layers. It is your comfort layers that will make the bed feel softer or firmer.
The BEST way to figure out which mattress will be right for you is to pick up the phone and call. You will NEVER get a high pressure sales person. Each and every person of our sales staff is interested in helping YOU find the product that best fits your needs. That is why our customers recommend us to their friends and family. We rely on happy customers to bring us more business, and you don’t make customers happy by making them buy things they don’t want or need. Happy customers are people who have received the perfect product, in a timely manner, with top notch customer service.
